It gives us a great pleasure to invite you to the XXX Annual National Conference of Indian Society of Professional Social Work (XXX ANC ISPSW) organized by the Department of Psychiatric Social Work, NIMHANS, Bengaluru, on 5th, 6th, and 7th (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) of January 2012. In Karnataka, Bengaluru has good connectivity for all tourist attractions like natural water falls, birds and wildlife sanctuaries, palaces, great temples and other ancient monuments. Bengaluru is well connected by air, rail and road from all places in India and abroad. Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka s is also an Internationally renowned IT city, situated about 3000 feet above the mean sea level. The city is known for moderate and pleasant weather throughout the year and is a hub for Professional Conferences and Scientific activities. A truly cosmopolitan city with all sections of society and beliefs, living harmoniously. Bengaluru is one of the major economic, cultural educational and neuropsychiatric centers of India. National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) Bengaluru is known for multidisciplinary approach and team work in the field of Mental health and Neuro sciences. The Institute is known for developing modules on promotion of mental health, prevention of mental health problems, developing care services for people with psychiatric, neurological and neuro-surgical problems, after care services and initiating community based neuropsychiatric interventions. The Department of Psychiatric Social Work at NIMHANS, nearly in its 50 years of existence has been actively involved in micro, meso and macro level in developing psychosocial interventions. The department is well connected with several universities, schools of social work, mental health institutions and government and non governmental organizations. It offers Ph.D and two year M.Phil programme, various workshops, block field work training and in-service training for social workers and allied professionals,para professionals and non professionals from India and abroad.
